Operating Principles
We would like to encourage you to provide information about the problems you face in finfish aquaculture. By making problems more widely known we are promoting the potential that one of our readers will take the time to communicate potential capabilities or solutions to help create a solution. Anyone with an interest in aquaculture innovation is invited to contribute. While we are expecting a good following form people with a direct connection to the aquaculture and fishing sectors, we expect some of the contributors that prove most valuable will be derived from sectors well outside fishing and aquaculture.
You are able to participate in several ways:

Read the content on this site
The content on this site is either on ‘pages’ or ‘posts’. You can access the pages from the roll down menu at the top of the page. Categories can be thought of as performing the same function as a Table of Contents. These can be accessed through the drop down menu in the sidebar.
Comment on a Post
At the base of each post you will note that there is an invitation to respond. Some of the postings are written to be controversial. Others are prepared and request specific input. Whatever the case we certainly want to encourage you to comment, build on what is said or to put forward a clarifying point. We would be happy for you to disagree outright and to offer your own take on the issue.
Simply type you response into the box at the base of the post under ‘Leave a Reply’ and click on the button just below the box ‘Submit Comment’. You can also include links in your response.
Register for immediate updates
There are several possible approaches that you can use to instruct the finfish.org site to send you information on each occasion that the site is updated. You can request either blog updates or newsletter updates.
When requesting blog updates, two approaches are possible. You can either arrange for emails to be sent to you, notifying you of the new content or use a news reader. News readers use RSS feeds. If this is a new concept and you would like to understand more then click here to view a very short but very effective video clip. If you are keen to enhance your productivity in using the web, then we heartily recommend that you try using news readers to manage RSS feeds from your favourite sites.
Contribute Content
We are very happy to offer people the opportunity to use this site to communicate about finfish aquaculture innovation. For those amongst you who would like to write posts and build your own finfish aquaculture identity, this functionality is available through the finfish.org site. In fact, for this site to continue to develop and thrive as an independent community we absolutely want people to develop their own identities in finfish aquaculture innovation.

Advertising your services
Open Innovation will play a major role in drawing together the insights to deliver productivity transforming innovations. We would like to offer you the ability to promote capabilities, research results, technologies available for licensing, patents, joint venture opportunities to our audience – aquaculture innovators world wide. This focussed community of interest is intent upon overcoming the global fish supply gap through aquaculture.
We are looking for “innovation components” that can make contributions towards achieving our aim of filling the global fish supply gap. Innovation components are things that can assist to get project work done. For example, patents and technologies available for licensing will likely be contributed in the largest numbers, we are also very interested in finding out about important research and consulting capabilities.
We are expecting innovation components to be notified by all of the following sources: commercial organisations, public sector research institutions, venture capital managers and individual inventors. While we are expecting a good following from people with a direct connection to the aquaculture and fishing sectors we fully expect that some of the innovation components that prove most valuable will be derived from sectors well outside fishing and aquaculture.
To assist you to provide information that will interest the readers of finfish.org we have developed a template document that you can download and then edit to include your own information. Part of the secret of promoting your capabilities or technology successfully is to prepare a thorough and clear explanation.
