Dr Richmond Loh
BSc BVMS MPhil MACVSc CMAVA DipPM CCAS
EXPERIENCE:
Dr Loh is a veterinarian with post-graduate qualifications in Aquatic Animal Health (MACVSc & CCAS) and in veterinary pathology (MACVSc & MPhil); skills particularly useful when needing to investigate disease incidents. His professional exposure to aquatics began when he took up the post as a veterinary fish pathologist for the Tasmanian state animal health laboratory from 2002-2007. Here he undertook laboratory investigations of disease outbreaks on aquaculture farms and fish kills in Tasmania. He has dealt with a variety of aquatic case material encompassing cultured finfish (salmon, trout, striped trumpeter, barramundi, seahorse, various ornamental fish), molluscs (abalone, oyster, scallop) and the occasional crustacea (rock lobster, giant freshwater lobster). He regularly contributes to several print and on-line publications and is a regular guest lecturer on aquatic animal matters for the Murdoch University School of Veterinary and Biomedical Sciences. Now, Perth-based, he provides a mobile Aquatic Animal Health consultancy service under the banner of “The Fish Vet” for clients in Western Australia and Victoria.
