Uses for faecal matter of salmon

Nick Read, Chairman of the British Trout Association kindly emailed Finfish to make us aware of an EU research program designed to investigate the issue Roberto raised.

    Nick said

Suggest you look at AQUAETREAT Project on the FEAP Website. This project dealt with ‘valorising’ fish farm waste. The short answer is that it will have problems with too much salt and phosphorous.

    Thanks for the pointer Nick.

The site Nick suggests contains an array of useful resources covering filtering, water reuse, and use of solids including a manual on effluent treatment, training material, technical leaflets and presentations.
