Aquaculture Future According to Marine Harvest

January 8th, 2008 by Andrew

Marine Harvest CEO, Atle Eide, in the 2006 Annual Report foreshadows where he believes the the keys to success in fish production may be found. Marine Harvest is the largest farmed Salmon company in the world producing about one third of global supply and with operations in 20 countries including Norway, Chile and Australia.

The future lies in concentrating production on fewer and larger units. This will drive raw material costs down, supplier regularity up, and further improve the totally integrated quality and traceability systems. It will also bring production planning closer to and more in step with market and consumer developments. We will also intensify our efforts in product development based on a wide range of farmed species – where salmon will continue to be the key element, not only when it comes to volume, but also not least value.
