Reprofish - Finfish Reproduction Information for Aquaculture

September 2nd, 2008 by Michelle

What is Reprofish?

Reprofish is a two year European initiative, funded by the 6th Framework Programme for Research and Development. The project, which commenced in February 2007, seeks to aid the global aquaculture industry by improving accessibility to finfish reproduction knowledge.

The major goal of the project is the submission of a knowledge gap advisory report to the European Commission in February 2009.

Is finfish reproduction an area in which we should be focusing our efforts to improve aquaculture operations performace and harvests?

There is a scientist from the University of the Sunshine Coast listed on the Reprofish Working Group (see http://www.inra.fr/reprofish_eng/qu_est_ce_que_reprofish/le_groupe_de_travail). Perhaps it would be worth trying to contact her to join this network?
(You don’t have to work in Europe to get involved in Framework projects)
